Clinical Associate Professor and world-renowned urologist, Darren Katz, serves as Medical Director of Men's Health Melbourne. He is a very approachable urologist who understands the importance of providing patients with the highest standards of multidisciplinary care. His aim is to deliver prompt, ready-access to all forms of urological management – either elective or emergency - and is available 24/7 to GPs and patients.

A/Prof Katz is the immediate past Leader of the Andrology Special Advisory Group for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand. He has been awarded the title of a Clinical Associate Professor from the prestigious Melbourne University Department of Surgery. He sits on a panel of experts for the Australian Government Department of Health. A/Prof Katz also holds numerous positions in various organisations including large public and private national and international companies as well as not-for-profit health organisations.

He has been an expert panel member for developing guidelines that have changed the way medical practitioners around Australia manage certain conditions. A/Prof Katz has been involved with the updated Australian guidelines on PSA due for release in 2026. He has also been integral to the development of the first endorsed Australian guidelines on erectile dysfunction published in 2022. A/Prof Katz was lead the author for the first ever Australian Guidelines on Male Infertility published in 2025. He is also currently helping to develop the first Australian Guidelines on Fertility Preservation in Children and Young Adults.

A/Prof Katz graduated from Melbourne University Medical School in 2001 and completed his specialist urological training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He has spent 2 years at world-leading hospitals, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill-Cornell Medical Centre, in New York completing sub-speciality urological fellowships in andrology, urological prosthetics, male voiding dysfunction, incontinence and male infertility.

A/Prof Katz is the director of the only Australian Prosthetic and Micro-surgical Fellowship which trains overseas urologists in world leading procedures and operations. A/Prof Katz has trained urologists from USA, Canada, Israel and England. These urologists spend 1 year with A/Prof Katz and his colleagues learning about the latest treatments and operations in his sub-speciality field. He is often asked for his expert commentary from various TV, print and radio media outlets (see media appearances here)

A/Prof Katz is heavily involved with research and academics and has been awarded both national and international grants, awards and scholarships. He has been an invited faculty member for numerous urological workshops to teach other urologists and training urologists about the latest surgical techniques.

A/Prof Katz often presents at major international conferences (see presentation list here). He is the author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, British Journal of Urology International, Andrology, Asian Journal of Urology, Journal of Sexual Medicine, The Asian Journal of Andrology and the Journal of Andrology and Gynaecology: Current Research. He is involved with several clinical trials and provides the most up-to-date, evidence based treatments for his patients.

A/Prof Katz is also a keen educator and mentor. He is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons). He teaches and mentors fellow urologists and surgeons (both locally and internationally) as well as training urologists and medical students from both Melbourne University and Monash University.

A/Prof Katz is a professional member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, American Urological Association, The Society of Reproductive Surgeons, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, International Society of Sexual Medicine, The Society for Male Reproduction and Urology, European Society of Urology, The Academy of Surgical Educators (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) and the Section of Academic Surgery (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons).
